Kano Computer Kits - Day 4

Today is the last day of the session. While it is a sad day, we still made the most of it! We Continued our game hacking journey and learned some more about the "behind-the-scenes" work that goes into making games.

Be on the lookout for future Kano classes. We hope to use these to their full potential in coding classes to come!

Vinyl Shop - Day 2

Last day to finish our vinyl stickers! Due to the complex design chosen by our student, most of today was spent making sure the vinyl design came out as planned. A whole bunch of careful peeling and cutting happened today. I am pretty positive that the end result was well worth it, however.

Kano Computer Kits - Day 3

Day three today! Now that all the "exploring" is done, it's time to get serious. Today starts our hardcore coding. We are learning how to code games now and also
a lot about what it takes to make things we usually take for granted everyday.

Vinyl Shop - Day 1

Today is nothing new for our PNG pros. We are making our very own vinyl stickers! We picked out silhouette designs online to cut out using the Cameo cutter. Our pro decided to pick out a complex design and it looks like it is going to turn out amazing! Next class will require much more patience. We are going to peel and pull the printed out vinyl so it can become a proper sticker.

Kano Computer Kits - Day 2

Day 2...Now that we have the building process down, it is time to code! The kids all enjoyed coding games like Minecraft or Pong. It looks like we have some future game designers in the class!

Papercraft & Photoshop - Day 4

Today is the last day! The kids were pretty quick in learning everything so we tried our best to do one more quick design before we had to go.

Kano Computer Kits - Day 1

Today was the introductory class to the much-anticipated  Kano computer kit class! We broke down the kits and learned a whole bunch of stuff about the parts of a computer and how they function. We hope to use these kits for future coding!

Papercraft & Photoshop - Day 3

Today was pure editing. We just sat back and use Photoshop to insert our backgrounds behind our awesome figures. Photoshop did it's magic and the final results ended up looking a little like this:

We have one class left so we'll see how fast we can print, build, and Photoshop a brand new figure!

Papercraft & Photoshop - Day 2

Today was the second day of working on our awesome projects. We finished our folding and had our figures take part in their own photo shoot! From there, we used Photoshop to put them wherever we could think of!

The results turned out pretty good. Take a look!

Makey Makey!

Today, we introduced the Makey Makey to some new faces and showed them what it was capable of! We played some pretty cool games using the Makey Makey as a controller!

This can be used for much more than that though. It can be used as a piano to make music, or even a remote shutter to take pictures.

Stay tuned for more Makey Makey classes in the future!

Papercraft & Photoshop - Day 1

We went old school today and printed out some awesome paper crafts. Using card stock, we were able to fold them to look like awesome superheroes and super villains.

Next class, we are going to Photoshop the crafts we just made into whatever background our hearts desire!

Hour of Code!

Today we introduced coding to a new person! We went back to the basics and explained coding using the simple "box coding" on Code.org.

We offer coding to a wide variety of levels for those interested in coding and have classes that go hands on with more in-depth coding so stay tuned!
