Hour of Code!

Today we held Hour of Code for teens.  Hour of Code activities largely revolve around www.code.org and www.khanacademy.org which both offer great lessons for beginner and intermediate coding.

Hour of Code classes are laidback hangout sessions where we all code at our own pace.

Hour of Code sessions are typically at the beginning of each month so keep an eye out for next time!

Movie Making - Day 4

Today we wrapped up shooting our movies!  After we pull the footage off of the video cameras we'll start editing our movies.  That's where the fun begins!

Hour of Code (MidKids)

Our staple coding class is back for the MidKids! We used lessons on Code.org ,that teach block coding, in order to help us dip our toes into the vast world of coding.

Once we feel comfortable with the coding we're doing now, we can move on to a more advanced version of coding that becomes more applicable in the real world.

As kids continue to come, they continue to add to their coding knowledge so be on the look out for future coding classes!

Movie Making - Day 3

Today we started principle photography on our movies!  It was a multi-use set as we filmed against the green screen.  We hit the LIGHTS and Ethan shot stop motion on the opposite side of the green screen while the others shot live action in front of the green screen with the CAMERA on the other side.  There was a lot of ACTION.  Looking forward to seeing the end result in the coming weeks!

Negative Space Valentine - Day 2 (MidKids)

Today is the day everybody got to let out all their anger onto canvas. After placing our vinyl prints onto the canvas, we painting over them in...creative... fashion. Once the paint dries, we peel the vinyl, revealing an awesome design to show off!

Here are how they turned out!

Movie Making - Day 2

Day two of plotting out our movie is in the books. We continued adding to our stories, while also starting a storyboard to help plan out the filming process. Some even were ahead of the game and started filming!

Next week, we will be all filming our different projects so I am predicting chaos and madness. Our stories all look to be in good shape though. Can't wait to see how these turn out!

Negative Space Valentine - Day 1 (MidKids)

With Valentine's Day right around the corner, it seemed appropriate to start an awesome Valentine's Day craft using our trusty Silhouette Studios vinyl cutter.

Today was the first of two parts to this project. We chose a Valentine's Day design to cut out and got it ready for the fun part: the painting.

Movie Making - Day 1

Lights, Camera, Action!  Today marks the return of the classic movie making PNG course that goes over how to script, shoot, and edit our very own movie!

Today, we started the planning and scripting for our feature film. After getting our creative juices flowing, we have, a good start and our Oscar streak seems to be remain in tact for now!

Stay tuned. After we finish up scripting next class, we will begin the filming process.
