 PNG is back!

3D Printing & TinkerCAD 9/7 - 9/16 (4-part class)

Learn to create 3D models and print them out on the Makerbot Replicator!  This class will teach you the basics of 3D design and how to use Tinkercad.com to create 3D objects that can be printed on any 3D printer.

 

Soldering Electronics 9/21 - 9/30 (4-part class)

Learn how to solder electronics!  We'll teach you how to handle a soldering iron and soldering safety, how to assemble components on a circuit board and everything else you need to know to bring electronics to life!

 

Glowforge & Inkscape 10/12 - 10/21 (4-part class)

Learn to create designs and etch or cut them into a variety of materials using the Glowforge laser cutter!  This class will teach you the basics of working with vector graphics and bringing your designs to life on the Glowforge laser cutter.

 

PNG Halloween 10/26 - 10/28 (2-part class)

Use technology to bring a spooky Halloween decoration to life!

 

Movie Making 11/2 - 11/18 (6-part class)

Lights, Camera, Action!  Let's write a script, shoot some footage and edit it into a movie.

 

Thanksgiving Table Place Cards 11/23 

Need decorations for your Thanksgiving table?  Don't go to the store, let's design them ourselves and make them real using the technology in the PNG room!

The Best of PNG Online - Season 1

After nearly a year of PNG Online, it's time to take a break.  We are preparing for the return of in-person classes in the fall and will take the summer to schedule and prepare.

PNG Online - Glowforge Basics

Follow along with me as I take another shot at making objects on the Glowforge laser cutter.  It's been a while and I've picked up a few tricks using Inkscape.  I'll give you some ideas of how to go about creating objects to be cut out and assembled using the Glowforge laser cutter at the library.  If you try it on your own, send me your designs and I'll cut them out for you!  Email me at png@elmwoodparklibrary.org

You can do A LOT in Adobe Photoshop Elements, and we've only previously scratched the surface.  So let's start a new project.  This time, we'll take a bad photo and make it better using cropping, filters and touch-up tools!

PNG Online - Music DAW Quest!

D.A.W. is an acronym for Digital Audio Workspace.  Even if you're not familiar with the phrase you've probably heard of Garageband or Mixcraft.  We have Acoustica's Mixcraft software loaded on our PNG computers at the library, but with in-person classes on hiatus because of COVID-19, I want to find an online DAW that everyone can use!

I found a list of possible candidates so we're going to go down the list and check them all out!  Hopefully, by the end of the hour we'll have an idea of which one is the best!

PNG Online - Kano PC Laptop Walkthrough

The Kano PC Laptops are now available for checkout at The Elmwood Park Public Library!

Project Next Generation, EPPL’s grant-funded technology classes for Teens and MidKids is adding 10 Kano PC Laptops to the collection so you can follow along with all of the great PNG Online activities we’ve been doing on YouTube!   

The laptops come loaded with a variety of Kano’s fun coding exercises, Adobe Photoshop and even Minecraft!  

A wireless hotspot is also included to make getting online simple and easy. 

Check out our orientation walkthrough that shows you everything that comes with the laptop and how to use it when you check it out with your library card!
